Mallards fitted with GPS transmitters give DNR researchers more specific information than banding on what habitat birds are using when they’re in Minnesota and where they stop on their travels south. Host Bret Amundson turned in a transmitter after harvesting one of the study’s birds and received back a proprietary glimpse into the life of a mallard.
