Prairie Conservation

Clip: Season 9 Episode 12 | 7m 10s

Prairie chickens once covered most of Minnesota. Overharvest and the loss of habitat have reduced the population to approximately 5,000 birds. A limited hunting season exists on the birds because there is a stable enough population in some areas and it attracts interest in prairie chicken conservation efforts.
